The art of rediscovering connection.
Human. Animal. Presence.
About – Angelika Weinekötter
Angelika Weinekötter is a contemporary realist painter based in Germany. Her figurative oil paintings explore encounters between humans and animals, not as decorative scenes or sentimental narratives, but as concentrated moments of presence.
Animals in her work are not accessories to the human figure. They appear as equal counterparts, carrying their own weight, silence and force. The paintings often focus on the unstable threshold between contact and distance, instinct and consciousness, observation and recognition.
Weinekötter works in oil on linen, canvas and panel. Her process is slow and layered, using glazes and controlled tonal structures to create depth, surface tension and a strong sense of physical presence. Skin, fur, feathers, fabric and light are treated as active parts of the image, not as decorative detail.
Her realism is not intended as simple description. It functions as a direct visual language, allowing the viewer to enter the image intuitively while the psychological and symbolic layers remain open.
Weinekötters Instagram account not only shares finished works but also offers behind-the-scenes insights into her artistic process.
Her work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in private and public collections. She has shown with galleries and platforms connected to contemporary realism and figurative painting in Europe and the United States.
